Final Fantasy III
I played the NES version of this game thanks to fan-translated version + emulator.
I didn't like several parts of the game.
- the need to have the mini/frog status then passing through a dungeon - if your team is more on physical attacks... you're doomed already (what happened to mine) even FEOKs won't stand a chance when it comes to enemies' physical attacks
- world map too big - with no minimap... use the white magic sight and what do you see? a chunk of the world map ONLY
- dungeons are too long - especially the final dungeon... the later ones have a lot of intersections and hidden passages that lead nowhere a.k.a. dead end
- leveling up is slow
- random battles even when in airship - very annoying especially when you're in a hurry to go to an area
Imagine going through the sylx tower (final dungeon 1st part) which is very long then going to the dark world, fighting the guardians of the dark crystals (lots of mazes) then challenging the Cloud of Darkness (even more mazes on the way) then getting pwned in the final battle, or maybe getting ambushed in a random battle then getting pwned.
Some would say why not FF1 or FF2. In FF1, even with the long final dungeon, you got items that can heal the party (healing rod, helm) and other supporting items. In FF2, you can spam the swap spell (chng in NES) on weak enemies, build up stats fast, then pass through the final dungeon without a problem. What else? There's a thing we call blood sword. The emperor's (and some other enemies') weakness.
